Congrats, etc.
Got some huge congrats to throw out. First, I got a double whammy for Vlad Levenfeld. Last weekend he had a muay thai fight and dominated his guy for the victory. This was his second fight and though he is a man a few words I did drag some details out of him. Long and short of it is that he wants to work on his clinch but is feeling comfortable in his striking. Then last night, Professor Paul saw fit to give him his blue belt! This young punk continues to makes strides in BJJ and MMA with dedication and hard work. We're proud of him, even if he is still trying to fight the Cold War.
Another big congrats goes out to Brett Gheesling for taking home the belt in the pro division at the Casca Grossa last weekend! Brett had 3 submissions (2 by anaconda and 1 by heel hook) en route to the title. Story goes that he was getting heckled for his arm triangle submission attempts (which are fantastic if you haven't experienced them yet), so he finished his last opponent with the heel hook. That last guy will remember that submission for a long time to come.
Don't forget, tourney tomorrow if you are interested. I know some folks are going and Milledgeville will be there in force. Here for details.
The UFC goes back to England this weekend and we get to watch it free on Spike. I love free MMA. Several big names on this card, but Couture/Vera is the main event and promises to be a barn burner. Event details here.
