If you have not heard yet, our new gi's are in and they are AWESOME!!! If you need a new gi, then don't hesitate to come in and grab one before they are gone. They look very nice and you will see many students already wearing them.
This weekend we have three students fighting in Danville, Virginia. Charles Mann, Jesse Haney and Vlad Levenfeld will make the trip with Paul to compete in the Danville Destruction MMA fights. All of their training has went very smooth and they all looked primed and ready to fight. If you are interested in coming out to support the team, we have all the info and itinerary of the event at the academy.

Congratulations to Bray Deavours, Chris Hughs, Steve Morgan, Jason Gaskill and De Thompson who competed in the Pan American Games this past weekend. This years Pan American Games had a record turnout of 3200 competitors from around the world. Besides the BJJ World Championships held in July, there is no other BJJ tournament that tops the Pan American Games. We are proud of you all..:0)

So, a lot has been happening at the academy and I haven't been able to keep up. There have been a lot of promotions and if you haven't noticed Pooh Bear has been doing a great job of posting them on the whiteboard at the academy. I'll refer you there because I certainly don't want to leave anyone out and his list is current.

First, we'll do BJJ because I said so. We got two new blue belts yall need to be aware of. Markeith "The Schoolyard Bully" Cooper, aka Yard, has been training with us for only a little while, but he is always there and his natural athletic ability has allowed him to progress quickly. A fixture in the morning classes, he is always a game partner that will not let you rest during a roll.

We took a small crew with us to Mississippi last week to cheer on 3 of our guys in MMA. Most of you have heard the results by now, but if not:
First up we had Burt Lograno getting a little ammy experience under his belt. Burt faced a tough striker, but he was able to dominate the ground game. He had multiple takedowns and was on top doing damage most of the fight. Good work on the feet, good clinch and takedowns, and dominated the ground. The judges awarded him a UD (30-27,29-28,29-28) for his effort and he got the night started right.

On the BJJ front, we have several new belts to report. There are two new blue belts in the house and they are both familiar faces. Jason Steele and Rick Culpepper have been training with us for a while now. You're liable to see them on the mat or in the gym area working out hard to supplement their BJJ. See guys, when you get on the mat good things happen, congrats!

US Grappling is right around the corner. If you have ever considered competing, this is the tourney to do it at. It is well run, affordable (pre-registration is open), and right here in Suwanee. If you want to see good quality tournaments come to our area, come on out and support it even if it is as a spectator because I know that some of you guys have already signed up to compete.
